Three children from Kangundo , Machakos County have died In a house fire inferno, in a suspected arson on Tuesday night.
According to Kangundo sub county police commander Zachariah Bitok, the three, a boy and two girls aged six and four, were the victim of a family land feud in the family.
He said their house was touched by relatives who had earlier that day appeared before Kakuyuni assistant county commissioner where they were referred to the court to solve the dispute.
Bitok said the minors were burnt beyond recognition after their family members escaped to safety leaving them behind while asleep as reported by the Star.
“Officers from Kawethei police post received information to the effect that there was an attack in the homestead of Richard Musyoki Mulili. Officers were mobilised from Kakuyuni and rushed to the scene,” Bitok said.
“But later on, it turned out that there were invaders who had set ablaze the homestead and its occupants disappeared into the bushes to hide. But, three children who were sleeping in the houses, got burnt beyond recognition,” Bitok said.
Their remains were taken to Kangundo Level 4 hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.
By the time of speaking with the press, no arrest have been arrested with Bitok saying they investigating the incident before making arrests.
