Two women, Bahati Juma Said and Mwanakombo Ramadhan were on Monday charged in a Mombasa court on an account of failure to report defilement of a minor to police.
Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku heard that the two suspects aided the perpetrator Salim Juma, who defiled a five-year old minor, to escape to evade justice.
“The two suspects conspired to defeat justice by aiding the perpetrator, Salim Juma to escape,” office of the DPP said.
Police said the particulars of the charge is that the accused persons committed the offence on February 6, 2023 at Msikiti Noor area, within Mombasa County as reported by the Star.
The duo pleaded not guilty to the charges and were each released on a Sh200,000 surety bond with an alternative cash bail of Sh100,000.
The case will be mentioned on February 27, 2023.
