A family from Lugala Village in Khwisero Constituency, Kakamega County is mourning the death of their one-and-a-half-year-old baby died in mysterious circumstances.
Her body was found on the rooftop of a neighbor’s toilet on Sunday two days after disappearing from her home on Friday.
It was reported that Gloria Andayi disappeared when her mother Velma Akoth had left home. When she returned, she could not find the baby, and efforts to locate her were unsuccessful.
The body was discovered after their neighbor was alarmed by the number of flies around the toilet prompting him to go check what could be wrong.
He was met by the decomposing body of the toddler on the rooftop of the toilet where he immediately alerted the family.
The incidence was confirmed by the assistant chief of Doho sub-location Simon Achoro. Alongside human rights activists, and local leaders want investigations done so that the family finds justice.
The minor’s body was moved to Yala mortuary in Siaya awaiting a postmortem.
