The document has been flagged by the ruling party.
The Facebook post with a purported United Democratic Alliance (UDA) press release on Londiani accident victims compensation is FAKE.
The statement claims that the UDA party has raised concern over allegations that money meant for compensation of Londiani accident victims has been misappropriated.
It further alleges that the ruling party has called on Kericho Governor Eric Mutai to set the record straight on claims that the funds were misappropriated.
“…We call upon Dr. Erick Mutai, Kericho governor to immediately clear the air over these allegations that seriously undermine the rule of law in Kenya,” the letter reads in part.
Following the Londiani accident where 52 people were reported dead, the government held a fundraiser where Sh13.6 million was reportedly collected to support the affected families.
However, there are media reports indicating that the money might have been embezzled.
To confirm the authenticity of the press release, we checked the UDA party’s website, Twitter and Facebook page, but there was no such statement.
On its Facebook page, we found this post terming the press release fake.
