FALSE: This video doesn’t show Kenya’s President William Ruto warning Raila Odinga

In the original clip, the president issued a warning to cattle rustlers, not the opposition leader.

This video posted on TikTok  purportedly showing Kenya’s President William Ruto issuing a warning to former prime Minister Raila Odinga is False.

The video posted on 25 August 2023 has a caption reading “Ruto strong warning to Raila” and features the president saying “Mambo ni matatu uhame Kenya uende jela ama usafiri uende mbinguni.”

Which loosely translates to, “There are three things; either you leave Kenya, go to jail or travel to heaven.”

Mtoto News conducted a Google reverse image search and established that the original video was posted by Nation on 25 August 2023.

According to Nation, the video was taken in Kabartonjo, Baringo county as President Ruto issued titled deeds to residents.

In the original video, the president addresses cattle rustlers in the North Rift region, stating that his government will not tolerate the menace.

The address was also published on a Facebook live video on President Ruto and State House Kenya’s  Facebook pages. (Start at 1:07:10) 

Mtoto News examined a video posted on TikTok  purportedly showing Kenya’s President William Ruto issuing a warning to former prime Minister Raila Odinga and found it to be False.
