A man, 21, has been handled 15 years of jail term for defiling a 13-year-old girl.
Juma Odhiambo, the accused, was convicted by senior Resident Magistrate David Odhiambo who said that the court was provided with compelling evidence that he was guilty of charges leveled against him.
The court was told that Juma committed the offense on different dates between the months of March and November 2021 at an unknown time in the Kibarani area of Jomvu Sub County in Mombasa County.
According to a statement by the Director of Public Prosecution on Thursday, Magistrate Odhaimbo ruled that there was compelling evidence obtained from five prosecution witnesses.
“In his ruling, Magistrate David Odhiambo stated that the accused failed to unshackle himself from the offense due to the magnitude of the evidence adduced by five prosecution witnesses,” stated the DPP.
“The court stated that the prosecution, through Senior Prosecution Counsel Barbara Sombo discharged its burden of proof before proceeding to jail the accused.”
