Ex- Gor Mahia Player, Collins "Gattuso" Okoth Faces Murder Charges in Tragic Child Death Case.

July 26, 2024

Former Kenyan soccer player Collins ‘Gattuso’ Okoth has been charged with the brutal murder of a 3-year-old girl in Nairobi. Okoth, who previously played for the Kenyan national team Harambee Stars and club team Gor Mahia, allegedly broke into the child’s home in Lucky Summer Estate with his co-accused Sylvia Aoko Odhiambo on April 22, 2024.

The lifeless body of the young victim, Pamela Atieno alias Scovian Maya, was later discovered dumped in a nearby residence.

Okoth and Odhiambo appeared before Milimani High Court Judge Alexander Muteti on July 23, 2024, facing charges of murder.

The court ordered the pair to undergo mental assessments before returning on July 30 for plea-taking. Police found the child’s half-naked body with bruises on her neck after her mother, Beatrice Awuor, reported her missing. Investigators recovered a suspected weapon used to break into the house and found that Okoth had started packing his belongings, allegedly trying to flee the scene.

The tragic incident has shocked the Kenyan soccer community, with many expressing disbelief at the heinous allegations against the former national team player. The case is ongoing, and justice is being sought for the innocent young victim whose life was cut short in such a horrific manner.
