The report highlights the different forms of abuse children face, including physical, sexual, and emotional violence. It also points out harmful cultural practices like female genital mutilation (FGM) and child marriage, which put many children at risk. Other dangers include trafficking, substance abuse, radicalization, hazardous work, and online exploitation.
Efforts to help affected children are ongoing. About 46% of those harmed received counseling to help them deal with emotional pain and trauma. The judiciary is also playing a role, with over 16,000 new child-related cases filed and many resolved during the reporting period.
However, the report also raises concern about boys, who are more likely to be exposed to crime and violence. With November marked as Children’s Justice Month in Kenya, these findings are a call to action. Leaders, communities, and families must work together to protect children’s rights and ensure their safety across the country.
