July 17, 2024

Nairobi, Kenya, 12/07/2024 – Mtoto News International, a platform that uses technology to promote children’s rights, advocacy, Child Led research and content creation, is excited to announce its nomination for a Tiktok Change Makers grant. Tiktok’ s Change Makers program, launched in May 2024 has partnered with 50 creators from around the world for a six-month initiative aimed at recognizing and supporting individuals who use their platforms to make a positive difference.

Mtoto News International, known for its work in advocating for children’s rights and raising awareness about issues affecting children in Africa, has been paired with content creator Dennis Ombachi, also known as @theroamingchef. They will receive a $25,000 donation to support their efforts.

“This exciting partnership with Mtoto News International is dedicated to the youth, especially the children. They are our future, and we should empower them from an early age,” said Dennis Ombachi, The Roaming Chef. “As a father of two, I believe in teaching good values to children while they are young. People remember how you make them feel, not what you have. Thank you, Tiktok, for this collaboration with Mtoto News International.”

The collaboration aims to ensure children’s voices are heard and considered in important discussions about climate change, education, and digital well-being. Through this partnership, children will have more opportunities to express their opinions and share their concerns.

“This is a great opportunity for Mtoto News International, as Dennis Ombachi is a positive role model for children,” said Jennifer Kaberi, CEO of Mtoto News International. “This partnership with Tiktok and Dennis will help make children’s voices heard through sports, education, and proper nutrition. It will also encourage African governments to listen to children.”

Mtoto News International will expand its Sauti Zetu Training program, which teaches children to use the digital space safely and responsibly. The program aims to reach 500 children directly and one million through its content. With Tiktok’ s support, more children will gain important skills for living in today’s digital world.

Together with Tiktok, Mtoto News International believes every child’s voice can make a big impact, helping to create a better future for Africa and beyond.
