GAZA: Hundreds Killed as Ceasefire Collapses

Written by Alice Njoki

On March 18, 2025, Israeli airstrikes shattered a two-month ceasefire in Gaza, killing at least 404 Palestinians and injuring over 560, including many women and children. The strikes targeted residential areas, reducing homes to rubble and leaving families trapped beneath the debris. Hospitals are struggling to cope with the rising casualties, facing severe shortages of medical supplies, fuel, and electricity.

Displaced families, already living in desperate conditions, now face worsening shortages of food, clean water, and shelter. For over two weeks, no humanitarian aid has reached Gaza, further exacerbating the crisis. The UN and aid agencies have warned of an impending catastrophe, with children suffering from malnutrition and dehydration.

Israel claims the renewed offensive is aimed at eliminating Hamas militants allegedly preparing attacks. However, Palestinian officials say the strikes deliberately target civilians, describing the situation as a “massacre.” International condemnation is growing, with countries such as Belgium, Malta, and Switzerland calling for an end to the violence and immediate humanitarian aid access.

As families continue searching for loved ones beneath the ruins, Gaza’s children bear the heaviest burden, losing their homes, families, and futures to a war that shows no signs of ending. The world watches, but for many in Gaza, hope is fading fast.
