Mtoto News is excited to announce the return of its transformative Sauti Zetu Training for this year, happening this April in Nairobi. From 14th to 17th April 2025, the training will take place at the Mtoto News offices in Highview Phase One, aiming to reach as many children as possible and equip them with essential knowledge and skills for the digital age.

Sauti Zetu, meaning “Our Voices,” is a program designed to empower children aged 7-17 to become confident, responsible, and active participants in their communities. For instance, I was once a shy child who found my voice through Sauti Zetu. The training not only boosted my confidence but also exposed me to a world of opportunities. I learned how to express myself through storytelling, photography, and videography, and even got to share my thoughts on important issues affecting children. Today, I am proud to say that I am a more confident and outspoken individual, thanks to the skills and experiences gained from Sauti Zetu. Since its inception in 2018, this initiative has transformed over 10,000 children across Kenya into skilled storytellers, advocates, and digital citizens.

Why Engage in Sauti Zetu?

In today’s digital world, children need skills to navigate online spaces safely and effectively. Sauti Zetu bridges the gap by teaching children how to advocate for their rights, create meaningful content, and use digital tools responsibly. Parents have praised the program for its ability to transform shy children into confident speakers and leaders. Graduates of Sauti Zetu have gone on to host shows, advocate for change, and even speak at global events.

Areas of focus:

The training covers five key modules:

  • Communication Skills: Helping children express themselves clearly through writing, speaking, and non-verbal communication.
  • Digital Literacy: Teaching them how to use digital platforms safely and effectively.
  • Online Safety: Educating children on identifying online threats and practicing responsible behavior.
  • Child Advocacy: Empowering children to champion their rights and engage with decision-makers.
  • Content Creation: Introducing photography, videography, podcasting, and graphic design.

Sauti Zetu Training is a unique opportunity for children to gain valuable skills while having fun. It fosters creativity, confidence, and responsibility preparing them for a brighter future as informed and socially conscious individuals. Instead of letting your child stay at home during the holidays, why not give them a chance to be constructive and learn something new?
