South Africa to Host The African Children’s Summit

Written by Alice Njoki

South Africa, in collaboration with the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund and the Department of Social Development (DSD), will host the Bi-Annual Africa Children’s Summit (ACS 2025) from April 4-7, 2025, at Roedean Senior School and St John’s College, Parktown, Johannesburg. The summit will bring together 1,300 children from across Africa—300 in person and 1,000 virtually.

With the theme “Seen, Heard, Engaged,” ACS 2025 aims to empower children to advocate for their rights and influence policies. Building on the success of the 2023 Nairobi summit organized by Mtoto News International, this edition will focus on key issues such as gender-based violence, intergenerational collaboration, and inclusion of marginalized children, including those with disabilities. Discussions will align with frameworks like the African Union’s Agenda 2040 and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Since 1994, South Africa has been committed to protecting children’s rights through key legislation and international agreements.

The summit will be broadcast live at www.dsdtv.org.za.
