Nairobi, June 23, 2025  Nearly two weeks after the heartbreaking death of five-year-old Amanda Mutheu , who was thrown from a balcony at Jacaranda Residences by her intoxicated uncle, the Nairobi community continues to mourn and demand justice. The case remains under active investigation, with the Federation of Women Lawyers Kenya (FIDA-Kenya) closely following up to ensure accountability.

FIDA-Kenya has deployed legal advocates to work with authorities, emphasizing the need for swift and transparent justice. The organization also uses this tragedy to highlight the urgent need for stronger child protection measures and responsible caregiving within families.

This incident is especially concerning given the rising number of careless and avoidable deaths in the country. Amanda’s death is a painful reminder that vulnerable lives are still at risk, and it shows the importance of vigilance and community responsibility.

As the investigation unfolds, the public is urged to reflect on the roles each of us plays in protecting children and creating safer environments. Amanda’s story should inspire collective action not just to seek justice but to prevent future tragedies through awareness, compassion, and accountability.
