Fafi Member of Parliament Salah Yakub yesterday launched Zero fees program aimed at assisting students joining secondary school in Fafi Constituency.

Through this program, the students received full uniforms, mattresses, books and other essential commodities.

In addition, he directed all headteachers not to ask for school fees from any student as CDF kitty will cater for the full cost.

Speaking at Fafi Girls’ Secondary School during the launch, the MP said said Kshs. 40 million is being invested in the education sector with Kshs. 30 million earmarked for local schools.

The remaining funds he noted will be given to tertiary institutions and students studying outside the constituency.

The program aims to at ensuring 100 percent transition as well as relieving parents from the burden of paying fees.

“As parents, yours is to take your child to school. Don’t even buy soap because CDF will cater for them, this is what we promised during our election campaign,” he told the gathering at Bura Sub-County.

Touching on security as the area is plagued by insecurity, the MP last week asked the security agencies to ensure that security is provided in all learning centers to deter any attack.

He commended Chiefs and their assistants for encouraging large number of pupils to enroll in all primary schools in the constituency.

The legislator said the security agencies will be provided with logistic support including four-wheel drives and motorbikes for easy mobility and to ensure services are taken closer to the residents.
