Early Bird primary school has emerged winners of the just concluded Schools Skating Championship held at the school located at Kathome in Machakos County
Mr. Stephen Kioko Early Bird couch said the teams won Trophy and several medals thus emerging the winner.
He urged students to pursue extracurricular activities in which they have comparative advantage.
He said skills, pupils could specialize in skating and become professional skaters in the future.
“With the standard of skating displayed by the skaters today, it has become apparent that skating will soon surpass other disciplines which have earned the county acclaim nationally and internationally” he said
Mr. Kioko noted that their main objective is on child development in the four areas of domain; physical, socio-emotional, cognitive and spiritual growth.
“This is one way of supporting children in education, talent development, and spiritual nourishment,” said Kioko.
Makueni School was position two followed by Kitengela International School at position three.
Skating is as a sport in which bladelike runners or sets of wheels attached to shoes are used for gliding on ice or other surfaces.
The completion can be individual or in a team.
“Skating in the country has grown so much and we urge the youth to join skating clubs” he added.
Skating is becoming a popular sport in Ukambani region with a sizeable number of sponsors chipping in to help the youths venturing into the sport.
