The Joining Forces Alliance called to action children’s right to participate in matters that affect them.
The call was made during the United Nations General Assembly, on 19 September 2023 in New York,USA.
Joining Forces agencies sought to mobilize around the Call to Action to demand greater financial investments and political will by governments and the wider international community for children’s systematic and sustainable participation in policy and decision-making processes.
They call for Institutional engagement with children, investment in child participation and ratification of international child rights instruments
Joining forces, composed 6 child-focused agencies which include ChildFund Alliance, Plan International, Save the Children International, SOS Children’s Villages International, Terre des Hommes International Federation, and World Vision.
The aim of this call was to make sure that leaders take note of children’s voices, their needs, and their calls to action.
Joining forces hosted the event ‘Children as Agents of Change – A Call to Action to Enable Inclusive Child Participation to Accelerate Implementation of the SDGs’ at the margins of UNGA.
The event’s key message was children must actively, safely and meaningfully participate in all matters and decisions affecting their lives.
Additionally, all stakeholders should recognize children’s rights and capacities and take their views into account, fulfilling their obligations under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
The Call to Action will be officially launched in late 2023.
