Following the death of a student in unclear circumstances, Uhuru Secondary School, Nairobi, was on Monday closed indefinitely.

Reports indicate that a fire broke out at the school and burnt down two dormitories on Sunday night after the student’s death which the police are investigating.

Part of the police report stated “Two dormitories accommodating form four students numbering 119 were brazed down by the fire. The cause is yet to be known but investigations are on to establish the root cause. No injury or death occurred,”

According to witnesses and police, the student had come from the field after a basketball game and told his friends that he was not feeling well.

He later collapsed at the dining hall door and was rushed to the Cosmopolitan Hospital where he was unfortunately pronounced dead

Confirming the death to the media, Buruburu OCPD Francis Ngugi Kamau said “The student had come from playing basketball at around 5:000 pm in the evening. He told his fellow student in the hall that he was not feeling well. He collapsed at the door and was rushed to the Cosmopolitan Hospital where he was unfortunately pronounced dead.
